"Goodnight, my prince," I say as I drop the prince off at his quarters after a long day at the beach. He does not leave the castle very often because of his rigorous training to become the next king, so when he does it is a special occasion. He is expected to take the throne within the next five years, after his father retires, so he does not have much time left to prepare and learn everything he needs to know to become the next ruler.
The fairies will be in need of a strong leader because there are signs of unrest throughout the land that could lead to a civil war if not dealt with properly. Many foes of the king would be glad to see it happen. However, it is my duty to protect the royal family with my life for I am one of their elite bodyguards. I was chosen for reasons unbeknownst to myself when I was still an infant, I had been put up for adoption by my family. I was raised in the palace to become what I am today- a warrior.
“Eeeoooeeeooo” I heard as I rose to my feet from bed with a start, as I had been about to fall asleep. Despite that, I am now fully awake, since I know what that high pitched alarm indicates. It signals that a member of the royal family is unaccounted for or an enemy has found their way into the palace. It alerts every guest and worker to go to their assigned underground bunker, while the bodyguards jumps into action to search the palace for the missing royal or to fight off the intruders.
The bodyguards and I know who to look for by the color of the flashing light that goes along with the alarm-red for the king, blue for the queen, and green for Prince Kyo. If there is no flashing light that means that an intruder has entered the palace.
As speedy as a cheetah I am dressed for battle and ready to take on whatever challenges lie ahead. While leaving my quarters I grab my radio to communicate with the fellow bodyguards and check the color of the flashing light- green.
